Continuing to capitalize on Batmania, which was sweeping the country in at the time, Aurora released the Robin the Boy Wonder kit. Batman's partner since 1940, Robin had a really great base where he was trying to keep some bad guy from doing some bad thing by turning off the electricity to his bad device. This model is a pleasure to paint and I have seen many variations on the scheme for the base over the years. Mine is pretty much basic and in keeping with the comics of the time period. This is before Neal Adams returned the Dark Knight to the darkness and two decades before Frank Miller made us see Gotham City for the crime infested cesspool it really is. This was a time when that city still had hope. The bright colors and shininess of the model reflect that time.

Johnny West Corner
Johnny West Adventures General Custer
Same body color but navy blue, yellow and silver accessories. This was the first Custer in my collection. I saw a Custer, most of his gear but the light was reflecting off his rifle funny. Description said nothing about there being anything "special" about him. I bid on it, won it and when I received it I discovered it was the JWA version. Mine is not actually complete, although he is very, very close. I think he displays well wearing just some of the gear he came with. It was probably about four years before I added a Custer with black gear to my collection.
